Thissealsettingdimensionismeasuredfromthefaceofthe
sealhousingtothebackofthespringholder.Thebackoftheseal
springholderwillbelocatedatthispoint.
4.3 Lubricate the shaftorsleevelightlywithsiliconelubricantprovided
withthesealbeforeinstallinganysealparts.
4.4 Install the rotating seal componentsintotheboreoftherotating
face.
4.5 Install the rotating seal componentpartsontheshaftorsleevein
thepropersequence.HandlePTFEU-cupringsandDurate
rotatingfacegasketswithextremecare.PTFEU-cupringsmustbe
assembledindividuallyandnotpushedontheshaftorsleevewhile
theyareinstalledintherotatingface.Avoidnickingorpinching
eitherlipoftheU-cupring.UsebothU-rings,theyworktogetherto
formaneffectiveseal.
4.6 SetthebackofthespringholderatreferencemarkB,Figure1,
andtightensetscrewsrmlyandevenly.Incaseswherethespring
holderisprovidedwithdriveslotstoengagewiththepinsthereare
nosetscrewstotighten.Installtherotatingcomponentsoverthe
shaftorsleeveandintotheboreofthesealhousingbeingsurethe
slotsinthespringholderengagethedrivepins.Therotating
componentassemblyisnowintheproperpositiontoprovidethe
correctsettingandspringcompressionfornalassembly.
4.7 Lightly lubricate O-ring or Duraex stationary face mountings.
4.8 Press the stationary face into the gland (exiblymountedfaces
only).Usehandpressureonly.WhereafacehasanO-ring
mountingonthebackshoulder,itisusuallybettertonestthis
O-ringintotheglandcavityandthenpushthestationaryfaceinto
thenestedO-ring.
4.9 Wipe the seal facescleanwithalcoholbeforecompleting
equipmentassembly.Sealfacesshouldnotbelubricated,
butshouldbeleftcleananddry.
4.10 Position the glandtothefaceofthesealhousing.Besurethe
glandpilotisproperlyengaged.Tighten the gland stud nuts
evenly,crossstaggertheadjustmentofthenuts.Followthe
equipmentmanufacturer'srecommendationsforglandstudnut
